About

Up to now there is little data about the normal values of lung function and the incidence of asthma in African children. In the Global Burden of Asthma Report, the incidence of Asthma for African children varies between 3.1% (Ethiopia) and 8.1% (Republic of South Africa). On the other hand, pneumonia is one of the leading causes of death in children in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The VAVANY Study

The aim of this study is twofold: First, the collection data to establish normal values in lung function of children aged eight to fourteen years. Second, to determine the incidence of bronchial asthma in this age group.
